Boating
Boating is a favorite activity at Smith Mountain Lake and Halesford Harbour Marina is equipped with everything boat owners need to get out there.
Our marina encompasses nine docks and 112 boat slips that can accommodate vessels up to 24 feet. We offer gas pumps that are open around the clock, propane, and a marine store to serve your boating needs.
Guests staying at the Halesford Harbor Inn may dock boats at Dock A, which is adjacent to the inn for quick and easy access. These six slips are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Ask our staff for more information about boat accommodations when booking your stay.

Fishing
With over 500 miles of shoreline, Smith Mountain lake is a top destination for anglers. Often called the “Jewel of the Blue Ridge Mountains,” it is the second largest body of freshwater in Virginia. The lake is perhaps most popular for bass fishing, but also teems with other species, providing excellent odds for reeling in a catch.
LOCAL FISH: Our local waters are home to largemouth, smallmouth, and striped bass, channel, flathead, and white catfish, black and white crappie, bluegill, redear sunfish, white and yellow perch, and muskie.
